Application for promotion from Step Five to Step Four
Other than Wisbech Town, any confirmed applications for promotion from the Ridgeons League?

I take it that Brantham having lost twice (and hopefully three times) in a week will be using that as their excuse not to apply. In the past some clubs (I think anyway) have thrown away their final placing as to miss the qualifying place for promotion !
Doesn't the application need to be in by the end of the year ?

Brantham have a mixed used usage site, it would cost a far bit of money to take the step up, and maybe also have to find another venue for the cricket team, but i no the club are not ruling any future application, but i think this is a bit to soon, considering how much improvement they have made in such a short space of time.

I think Bergh 1 is right about Brantham as its a mixed use sports complex, certainly the football pitch ( i think ) would have to be totally enclosed, this would effect the Cricket square
Dellwood is I think correct that applications for promotion must be registered by 31st December each year. But as its only the 4th January have the Ridgeons League advised the press of what teams have applied

Sammy, it is the ground that has to be enclosed, not the pitch. Stourbridge are a good example having a three sided pitch.

Re: Application for promotion from Step Five to Step Four
Wroxham's programme on New Years' Eve confirmed they have applied. I was helping to fill in the ground inspection questionnaire for the Wisbech application last night and we don't have to do too much to get the required "E" grade, just add about 40 seats and a couple of other bits and pieces.
Trafford Park will have to have 150 seats (not sure how many they have now), cover for a further 100 spectators, two turnstiles, the pitch fenced off and probably some other stuff I can't think of... by 31st March 2012.

Fencing off the ground is not a complete stumbling block for Grade E grading. I believe Soham are using a three sided ground at present.

Re: Application for promotion from Step Five to Step Four
The stand at Trafford Park theoretically holds 100 but they clearly have a lot of work to do. Although Soham have a pitch that is not fully enclosed I believe the whole ground is, whereas it is possible to wander in to Trafford Prk on two sides with no fencing at all. I understand they will also need a toilet block that can be accessed without entering the clubhouse. If they put turnstiles at the current ground entrance they will also have an issue with car park access. Whilst I applaud them trying to progress I think they will need a lot of hard work(and money) to succeed this year.

We are currently a three sided ground as the grassed area on the far side of the ground is 2 metres to wide from the edge of the concrete pathway to the perimiter fance.Gag wrote:I believe Soham are using a three sided ground at present.
If we were to widen the concrete pathway around the pitch, put up a fence or covered stand we would be allowed to access the entire ground again on match days - But this isn't possible due to us having a training pitch over that side.
Must people that come to the club think it's a stupid rule, especially when other teams also have wide areas around their pitch but they are allowed to remain four sided - But it's a FA requirement so until either the rules change or we do some work that side that doesn't interfer with the training area we will remain three sided.
I haven't been to Wroxham since we were last in the Ridgeons League so I'm not sure how much their ground has improved in that time. Basically to play level 4 football you need:
Pitch infill
Min 150 seats including marked off areas for home & visiting officials
Press areas
Outside toilets
Plenty of emergency 'running man' signs showing the exits
Two turnstyles
Entired ground fenced off and not visible from the outside
No doubt there are also a few other things I haven't mentioned!!

To the best of my knowledge, it hasn't...

It's like your life flashing before you!
It's AFC Kempston Rovers GAG and I followed 'The Rovers' at their original Hill Grounds next to Kempston SM School from 1950 until I left school and moved away. It was a mile from my house to Hillgrounds and a mile in the other dirtection to 'The Eyrie' in Ford End Road home of Bedford Town where I went when Rovers weere away. Have always wanted to get them in the Vase or FA Cup but hasn't happened yet! Be good if they went up as I still follow their progress!
