Lets just say Yes

Haverhill had 2 goals disollowed for no aparent reasion first one wroxham player cleared it off the line for the rovers player to put the rebound in only for the ref to give offside wroxham had 2 players standing on the goal line

then in injury time rover who had completly dominated the 2nd half had a few corners in a row as the ball went over the line the ref blew for full time some say it had crossed the line [radio reporter] others said just as it was crossign the line

now there was a ref there and he even spoke to the ref after the game and asked him if he knew he wasn't allowed to blow the final whislte untill the ball is in nuteral erritory either from a goal kick or in the center of the park [myself i didn't know this]

he wasn't just bad on them 2 occations there was quite a few times when he blew the whisltle and neither team new what it was for both sets of players where sometimes mystified as to what was going on

ref was Adrian Gillett from Aylesbury

here is a report of the game i just read

Haverhill Rovers 1 Wroxham 2

Referee Adrian Gillett denied Haverhill Rovers a point in hugely controversial circumstances against league leaders Wroham on Saturday. With time running out, a deep cross was hooked back into the penalty area by Stuart Kingham, and as Greg Strong rose to head past the Wroxham ‘keeper Michael Hilton to equalise, referee Gillett blew to signal the end of the game, and prevent the goal which the hosts deserved.
Wroxham took the lead 16 minutes into the first half, when a free kick from Shaun Howes passed through the Rovers wall and deceived Aaron Bentead in the Haverhill goal. Dan Cornwell forced a fine save from Hilton 5 minutes later, and although Benstead was required to make a fine save from Gary Gilmore following a run from the ever dangerous Jordan Rocastle, Rovers more than held their own in the run up to half time.
The hosts dominated the majority of the second half in their search for an equaliser. Cornwell shot wide when through after 48 minutes, and then had the ball in the Wroxham goal three minutes later, only for the score to be disallowed for offside.
A Marcus Hunt header in the 70th minute hit the bar, but the game seemed settled six minutes later when Matthew Daniels burst through the Rovers defence only to be upended by Benstead for a penalty which he duly converted.
Rovers fought back courageously with the support of a vocal New Croft, and when Jack Wilkinson rose to head a Jack Higgs cross past Hilton, an unlikely comeback looked on the cards. Unfortunately for Rovers, Mr Gillett prevented it from happening.

Don't like to argue with a ref!! But, as far as I'm aware, it says nothing in the rules about the ball having to be in a neutral area before he blows. Two equal periods of 45 minutes (plus injury time) with play only extended for a penalty I believe it says.

So when the time is up, its up, no matter where the ball is.

Remember that game in the world cup a few years ago? I think Brazil scored from a corner only to realise that the ref, think it was Clive Thomas, had blown the final whistle as the corner came in. Sounds similar to the Haverhill game.

Wroxham do seem to quite often get the benefit of reffing decisions for some reason in their home games, happens away too then.

Refs - don't you just luv em.

Even if it's not in the rules about the referee only whistling for time when the ball is in a neutral area, surely it would be sensible for them to follow such a policy to avoid this sort of controvesy.
There: something to tell your grandchildren - the day you saw the words referee and sensible in the same sentence.

Very Harsh on the Referee, and not a true account of what happened.
I think they call it creative journalism, others would just say lies lol.
The Wroxham Defender punched the ball into his own net long after the Referee had blown the full time Whistle.
So not quite as dramatic as a bbc suffolk and haverhill supporter are making out.
Wroxham were 2 nil up and coasting, yes they were holding onto a lead, but they have just come off the back of two defeats.

The whistle had gone so there was no need to clear the ball, and it was not headed in or on the head of a haverhill attacker.

Not a bad game but the best side one.

The assistant Referee had a shocker, the Referee had a steady game.

As the author if the report can I object to being called a liar?
As many individuals all around the country do, I write a report each week which, I believe is balanced and fair - yes I am a Haverhill supporter, but I acknowledge poor performances or times when the rub of the green runs for or against us.
If I compare what I and every other journalist in print wrote at the game there is a similarity - apart from the one report on the Wroxham website which fails to acknowlege any of the Haverhill pressure in the second half, or the fact we dominated the game for the last 45 minutes, or the fact the Wroxham striker got booked for a blatant dive in the box... and as for the idea that a defender punched the ball into his own net .....were you watching the game from Wroxham?
Haverhill battered Wroxham for the last half hour, and the defence held up well, they deserve credit for an outstanding performance where they should have come back from 2 goals down against the best team in the league.
As another contributor commented, if this is the quality of your one eyed supporters I hope you get promoted

Wroxham will never admit that they were fortunate to win a game Gazza. I agree with you the sooner they get promoted the better!!!
