Plus the league are crying out for clubs & are having to allow lower placed sides up & less promotion places.
Plus Team Braintree (don't remember them rising through the ranks to enable them to join).
Surely common sense should prevail.

I think that SWTFC will be a great addition to Div 1, BUT when did common sense come into it?

With the present Ridgeons(Thurlow Nunn) First Division having 17 clubs, it's obvious that they need clubs of the standing of Saffron Walden FC to be welcomed into the League. I am not aware of what clubs have applied (if any) to this Division but member clubs have been crying out for years for new clubs to apply for inclusion to bring the numbers up to 20 or 22. The phrase 'common sense' is rarely used in football these days but it's time we re-introduced it!!!!

Having seen the names of the new joint managers, i will be following the fortunes of the club every week. My association with Colin Wallington goes back many years and i am pleased that he has got himself (along with Nicky Smith) back into football with SWFC Very Happy

I have to admit that when i first heard i thought "wow we mean buisness!"
They have certainly got good pedigree & just hope the FA don't ruin things for us.

Wallington & Smith - good combative combination, who will certainly get a good solid side out well able to compete in Div 1 next season.

As far as I know the League want SWT to re-join, and I'm sure all the Clubs want to see a vibrant SWT back into the Eastern Counties 'family', and would vote positivily at the League constitution. Given all this local support the FA would be ill advised to 'dictate' otherwise considering their recent ill informed attempts to revise the Step 5/6.

SWT - good luck with the FA meeting

I for one am looking forward to seeing SWT back where they belong.

I wouldn't put money on which league they are placed in as both the Essex Senior & Eastern League are below the numbers required. Lets face it if Bishops Stortford are in the Blue Square North then there may be a small chance of the UCL as well !

They won't go into the Essex Senior as that is a step five with no step six division so that is a no,no.

They have also applied for the ECL..

Expect an announcement any day now they are in the Essex Senior then!

Don't say that! (Essex Senior)
We've been their (twice) so got 2 t-shirts & would not recommend it
even though it's a step higher.

Who knows what the suits at the FA will decide? We only have to refer to the Step 5 review carried out recently. How much money was spent on this 'dead duck' with all the regional meetings etc!! By the way Welchwatcher, how did the ceremonial burning of the road map of the East End of London go? A few smiles no doubt. Very Happy
