Gavin Frost fundraising football match
An end of season fundraising football match has been organised for much loved local footballer Gavin Frost.
The game will take place on Friday May 11th at Humber Doucy Lane, kick off 7.45pm, and will see Ipswich Wanderers host a Ransomes Sports side that will also include several of Gavin’s former teammates from other clubs during his lengthy career in local football.
The ex-Woodbridge Town, Norwich United and Felixstowe & Walton United player was rushed to Ipswich hospital with life-threatening injuries nearly ten weeks ago, after he was struck by a digger in an industrial accident at work and knocked down a 20ft hole. The midfielder spent over a week in a coma with numerous injuries, before being released from hospital over a month later.
Several of Frost’s friends and former teammates have already agreed to play, including ITFC legend Fabian Wilnis, who knows Gavin from when Wilnis took charge of Wanderers for a game back in October.
The game has been jointly organised by Ipswich Wanderers chairman Terry Fenwick and Ransomes Sports manager Peter Gorham, the two clubs that Frost has appeared for this season.
Wanderers chairman Terry Fenwick said: “Frosty is such a well known and well loved player, and we all devastated to hear about his accident back in January. Now that Gavin is slowly on the mend, Peter and I feel that it is important to host a fixture for him to celebrate his fantastic career in local football.”
Admission to the game will cost £5 for adults and free for under 16’s, with all gate receipts going to the Gavin Frost fund. There will also be fundraising raffle on the night, while both the clubhouse and catering facilities will be open.
Further news about the players set to play in the game will be announced nearer the time.
If you’d like to donate to the Gavin Frost fund, please contact
either Terry Fenwick on 07796 077844 or Peter Gorham on 07772 092007.

Re: Gavin Frost fundraising football match
For the record it was Ipswich Wanderers XI 2 Ransomes XI 7 (HT 0-6 !) The 2 centre backs for Wanderers in the first half probably had a combined age of 100 & were both ex Felixstowe as well ! A good game, plenty of old faces & hopefully a decent amount raised although we didn't see any sign of the raffle.
