Wroxham go to the Ryman..Wivenhoe saved ?

Post  dellwood on Sat May 26, 2012 6:37 am

The new non-league placing's were announced today and Wroxham have been accepted into the Ryman Div 1 North. I assume that this means that Wivenhoe will not be relegated.

with the cream of our league going each season what are we going to be left with, a full premier league and division 1 with 10 clubs ?????? don't get me wrong, good luck to the clubs moving up but there is a lack of clubs from below wanting to progress up the pyramid.

Does this mean then, that the Premier Division will contain only 20 teams for the start of next season? With Wivenhoe staying put, Newmarket and Great Yarmouth being demoted and being replaced by Thetford and Godmanchester, that leaves 20!! What happened to the 22 clubs that use to make up the Premier Division???

Yep, that's it!
I thought that the plan had been to make 2 leagues of 22 over the next few seasons, the Prem to have 20 next season. It looks difficult to achieve , with only 2 teams likely to join the 1st Div. Needs more thought.

The clubs voted at the last AGM for a Premier Division of 20. Nothing to do with any hidden agendas, just what we all voted for. The League is constituted for a maximum of 44 clubs, that means (theoretically) that we could have a Premier with 20 and a first division of 24.

Think the recommendations from the F.A after they abandoned the re-alignment of the Leagues, state that there will be a requirement for 22 teams in the Thurlow Nunn Premier League and 20 teams in Division One by 2014, so whatever has been decided at previous League A.G.M's will have to go "out of the window " if the F.A have made this stipulation

Precisely. So, 3 up and 2 down will realise a Prem of 22, but we may have to scratch around to make it 20 in Div 1! Hope not.
