Re: Mildenhall 9 Wisbech 0 ?
Well, that was very interesting...
Every single Mildenhall person asked the question said the Referee had an excellent game and all three sendings off were completely right.
We tell a very different story. Wisbech by far the better side for the first 14 minutes. Then, Simon Ashton slips in the greasy conditions outside the box and can do nothing about colliding with the Mildenhall player. Result - straight red card. For next few minutes, Wisbech are still the better side...
32 minutes: Callum Reed - rightly booked for a bad tackle. Only problem is he'd already been booked for an earlier incident when - again thanks to the conditions - he had slid in on a player, but made no contact with him. Wisbech reduced to 9 men.
36 minutes: Mildenhall score with their second shot on target. 1-0.
Second half
50 minutes: With a mountain to climb already, Neal Spafford is given a straight red card for either a handball or a shirt pull in the box. Penalty scored. Mildenhall 2-0 up.
Rest of second half: Mildenhall use their numerical advantage to score 7 more goals against the remaining 8 Wisbech players (replaced on occasion by subs) who battle heroically but can't do a lot about it.
Biggest cheer of the night... A Mildenhall player getting booked with 5 minutes remaining...
Call it sour grapes all you like, but had that game been 11 v 11 on a dry pitch, there would have only been one winner - the spectators. It was shaping up to be a great game, but the Referee decided he wanted to be the centre of attention. You can argue all you like about the validity of the decisions. The fact is he took no account of the conditions. The reason no Mildenhall players were getting booked was because they couldn't get near enough to our players to tackle them!
I can honestly say I have never seen a game turned on it's head so spectacularly by the intervention of the officials. I hope to God I never see another. Yes, even if the boot is on the other foot...
And if I hear Song 2 by Blur again, I'm going to be very cross...

Mildenhall 9 Wisbech 0?
At work today, after a few jibes, I got a very similar story to Spenny's from the Wisbech folk , who seemed unable to believe their own eyes. The worst referee in history I am told.

Good report by "Spenny ", seen this happen many times before with Referee's not taking into account the conditions. Did see it once in a match after a Ref had booked several players ( yellow cards ) , he slipped over in the slippery conditions, guess what?? no more bookings !!!
As Spenny said an Official but his account looking to make a name for himself :

Only goes to show that we can let 4 in with 11 players, who knows with 8 on the pitch we might even get a shot on target ! Except before the first goal we "scored" but with 2 defenders on the line a shot from 6 yards was given offside. Now if that linesman was in the same match as that ref it could be even more interesting. Some supporters are now thinking of sponsoring the visiting goalkeepers with a newspaper & a deckchair in case they get cold in the coming months.

Re: Mildenhall 9 Wisbech 0 ?
Well I've read the comments on the Wisbech and Mildenhall Forums, sounds like two different games!!
Would love to hear a neutrals view.

Re: Mildenhall 9 Wisbech 0 ?
i will admit Wisbech looked better than us for a good while and they seemed quicker to the ball, however they can't blame the ref for everything?? if the ref wanted to make a name for himself (apparently) then why did he just pick on Wisbech? perhaps its because Mildenhall didnt slip as much and bring down the wisbech players?? sometimes you get better refs than other times but you have to look at yourself if you lose.... if wisbech had of curbed the hard tackles a little then they might have won...and they were playing the team who won the best conduct/integrity/low cards award....

Whatever viewpoint you go along with, it's still 9 - 0 in the record books
