PREMIER PREVIEW SATURDAY 1st OCTOBER 2011

BRANTHAM ATHLETIC V GT. YARMOUTH TOWN
Athletic play their first home game of the season here and the first of three in eight days at the Leisure Centre. They will want to get a good start to their home season coming off a mid-week defeat at Stanway, having won their first four conceding just once, they have now lost two of their last three. They face a Bloaters side under new management whose only win to date was the reverse fixture a fortnight ago and who sit one place of the bottom with just three points. It could be a difficult afternoon for them having conceded 27 goals to date while their hosts have scored 22.

CRC V GORLESTON FC
Just a point separates these two at the start of play with the home side ahead having played two games more. It has been a staccato start for the Scholars although they beat the then league leaders last week at home and are always capable of putting a good result together. The visitors will be pleased with their start to life back in the Premier Division and with five games in hand on some of those above them may well be sitting in a false position at 11th in the table. There away form shows one of each from their three games with an equal goal tally so this could be a good marker for them.

DISS TOWN V STANWAY ROVERS
The Tangerines have made a healthy start to their campaign and will be pleased with their progress so far, sitting in 7th place. They have won their last two, scoring six times but they have shipped 14 goals in their ten league games so far. Visitors Stanway up to third following their midweek win over Brantham are on a six match winning run and have the momentum with them at present. This will be a stiff test for the home club against a side who have won four of their seven victories to date away from The Hawthorns.
FELIXSTOWE & WALTON UNITED V ELY CITY
Home (Jekyll), Away (Hyde), is probably the best way to describe the home side’s current form, nine goals scored in the past week away from the Goldstar Ground, eight conceded in their last two home games. Twice as many points away than collected at home, they will feel they are playing well enough but must somehow shake of the nerves in front of their home supporters. They will find no sympathy from their visitors who sit in a comfortable mid-table position and a further three points could see them in the top eight by 4.45. They have plenty of confidence from recent cup runs and will be looking forward to this encounter.

HAVERHILL ROVERS V DEREHAM TOWN
This has to be Match of the Day with the home side beginning to look a force to be reckoned with, they had a surprise defeat last time out in the league that ended an unbeaten run of six games but will have gained confidence from their cup exploits that have kept them out of league action for a fortnight. Dereham looked hot favourites for a title challenge early in the season and still maintain second spot but four defeats in twelve is not a good record and they have lost their last two in the past eight days, so will be looking for a response at The New Croft.

MILDENHALL TOWN V FC CLACTON
The ‘Hall certainly look as though they could be in the mix come next May. Just one defeat in their last eight speaks for itself and they are unbeaten at Rec’way with just two goals conceded. Their visitors have won twice away from Rush Green but have also lost against the current bottom club on their travels so are a little erratic with their form. The home side need three points to ensure they stay in touch with the three sides above them while their visitors could go in either direction dependent on this result. A win would be a big boost with six games in hand over some of the sides currently above them in the table.

NEWMARKET TOWN V WOODBRIDGE TOWN
The Jockeys were replaced at the bottom of the table on goal difference in midweek without playing and are still looking for their first win of the season, just three points from a possible 30 and a minus eighteen goal difference could see them cut adrift in one of the relegation spots if they don’t start collecting wins soon. Their visitors have made an indifferent start to the season, losing half their opening games when many thought they would be challenging in the top half of the table. They have now lost their last three in the league, conceding 12 goals and will view this as an opportunity to stop the rot
.

NORWICH UNITED V WIVENHOE TOWN
The Planters have been enigmatic with their results so far and have lost three times at Blofield in their six games on home soil although all were against sides well up in the table. This should be a home banker for them and a game where they must pick up maximum points. The Dragons dropped into bottom spot in midweek on goal difference and have just one win from their opening 11 fixtures. They have plenty of endeavour and a high work rate but look fragile at both ends of the pitch. Seven away games, three scored, 17 conceded and no points is not good reading.

WISBECH TOWN V HADLEIGH UNITED
It may be difficult to get a bookie to give any odds on the home side’s result following the bizarre 9-0 defeat at Mildenhall 10 days ago when they finished with eight players on the pitch and then followed up by beating Dereham at Aldiss Park. Although they are now down to 5th and having seen a positive goal difference wiped out they are still a force to be reckoned with and will test their visitors here. Hadleigh are another enigma, fancied by many at the start of the season they have been unable to string a decent run together and sit in the bottom half of the table having lost five of their opening nine games
