What has happened, nobody got any thoughts on the new season?

What about the AFC Sudbury Reserves/Under 21's in the league? Seems some managers not happy?

Is that any different to a club sending out a bunch of kids as their first team? Surely it is about quality. Better to have a closely contested league than to have a team stuffed by 7 or 8 goals every week. No offence...

What about the side that Mr. Crawford put out today??? Mad
Any body go & watch HUFC Vs Romford this afternoon?
Why play Calver wide on the left when you have Kelly, Chaplin & Downing on the bench, was the queston being asked by many???
Well rather than play our own game, once again he goes & worries about the opposition being physical!!!
It will be the players that get the blame, but when you play the first 45mins with 10 men & are a goal down then its always going to be an up hill battle from there!!!
A good gate attended but how many of us will be returning after seeing that??
Again after going 2 down early in the second half why was it left until we were well & truly beaten that we introduced James Blades?
He should have been on as soon as we conceded the 2nd!!
A BIG loss also will be the prize money from what i hear!Mad

One thing Stuart Crawford has done consistently since he took over at Hadleigh is to put together a good squad each year and once again he has managed this for the new season. If the players were unhappy with his rotation system (for whatever reason, whether it be tactical or not) surely they would leave. This has not been the case for the most part and he has kept the nucleus of his side whilst continually adding to it. There have been good players leave over recent seasons but he has managed to replace them in some shape or form. I have no doubt that they will be a real force this season with a great opportunity of winning the league. Yes, there will be a slight hiccup along the way, the odd strange decision but surely the league is your priority. If I was a Hadleigh supporter, I would be quite excited about what the season has to offer (potentially).

Scotty Parker,
Potentially, yes at present we have a side more than cappable of winning the league this season, after all it has now got to be one of the weakest it has been ever with the likes of Needham, Leiston, Bury, Dereham, Wroxham ETC having left?
I would think that any side that enters The FA CUP or VASE would like a good run in it, as these Competitions help generate a nice little income.
This would have helped make up a bit for the 9K + loss on Bar Sales last year that was announced at the AGM.
Oh & also the 6K + that the players are still owed in wages for last season, from the stories we have all heard about the town.
Dont be surprised if one or two players end up moving on if we dont get a good Vase run, as i believe the Committee are relying on this to pay the players wages for this season! Mad

Seems all is not well at Hadleigh , if what you state is true. Over the many years of watching local football, I have seen several teams lose players when " cup runs " ends as Clubs tend to rely on this money to pay players , more than some clubs to attract them. But its a " fools paradise " to rely on income from cups runs, yes granted a team ( such as Hadleigh ) did last season had a successful F.A.Vase cup run , but had fallen at the second hurdle in the F.A. Cup , I understand they enter the F.A. Vase competition at a later round stage, ( for doing well last season ), so will miss out on potential income from the early round matches ( should they win !!! ). but by the time they enter the F.A.Vase they will meet stronger teams , with no guarantee of beating these teams . Oblivously this applies to other teams not just Hadleigh .

If this does unfortunately happen to Hadleigh , will your Club still be able to afford to pay the players , some may leave , but will be cup tied if they have played in these competitions . Happy Days

Sammy/Scotty Parker,
Have you seen the EADT today?
Blames his defenders, never mind admitting he made a mistake of putting in Calver instead of the likes of Kelly, Chaplin or Downing!!!
The Midfield was awful & Canfer isnt an out & out Striker, he is far better coming through from Midfield & as for Mayhew, granted he scored a hat trick against Kirkley but they are a very poor side.
What we want is Blades in up front, someone who runs his heart out for the club & has done well when he has come on, he needs to be given a chance, before he leaves!!
Or is it that Mayhew is on the same contract as Wright, that he gets played even if he doesnt play??
Talking to a Youth Manager over the weekend, well Saturday evening & it also appears that there is unrest between the Main Committee & the Youth Section over the way Mr. C is having the club run!! Mad

Very harsh words from HUFC supporter about Kirkley & Pakefield being I quote 'a very poor side'.
K & P are managed by a first time manager less than 3 months into his apprenticeship who with limited funds has put together a decent side with a good mix of youth and senior players and are starting to show what they can do.
At the moment they are only two wins behind the mighty Hadleigh so not as 'very poor' as you state, I do hope and they will, come back and haunt you for your disrespectful comments.
By the way it's going to take one hell off a Vase run just to clear the 9k loss in bar takings and the 6k debt in owed wages.

I have to say I can only agree with HUFC. SC methods are somewhat strange, and with the squad of players the club has had last season and this, maybe a manager with a better tactical awareness would of provided league results!

As well as the cup run in the Vase was, the teams Hadleigh came up against were on the whole poor, and on paper Hadleigh were definitely favourites to win every game barring the Tunbridge game, where we were soundly beaten !

I have to say the bar money excuse doesn't sit well with me, why would their be a surplus of bar money for last season ? what was the reason behind this ?

On paper this squad looks very good, weaknesses hmmm goalkeeper may only be the concern area, young Howe seems to have at least one mistake in him a game and Moyes had a bit of shocker on Saturday and can never seem to stay fit ! Interestingly last season goalkeeper has been surprisingly loaned from Sudbury to St Neots a step 3 club !

Non league football is strange !

COYH !

7Pts from a possible 9Pts, 12 Goals Scored & 1 Against in the first 3 games & Mr. Crawford then starts to rotate his players around!!!
RESULTING IN.
4Pts from a possible 9Pts, 2 Goals Scored & 2 Against from the next 3 games.
As well as this an FA Cup defeat 0-5!!
Brettsiders,
We did have a very good Coach at the club with good tactical awareness, but Mr. Crawford got shot of him. (IAN BROWN)
Some say that he was worried that Ian Brown was after his job & others say that a couple of the Senior Players complained about his training methods & so that is why he went.
Why when we are playing such good football & winning games does he have to change the team??
Surely if you have players that need a game who have been sitting on the bench for a couple of matches this is why you have a Reserve side. Dont go & change a winning team, do you???
I did read in a local paper late last season this is why Matt Bloomfield left, because every week he never knew who would be playing along side him in the next game.
As for the Bar sales, it sounds as if the Clubhouse was'nt used for as many outside functions as they had hoped.

Following the FA Cup defeat you question the team selection, suggesting that Calver shouldn't play and Canfer isn't a striker. You suggest Blades should be in the side and maybe Downing. When this happens and Hadleigh still fail to secure the win, you question the manager in changing his team, pointing out the success that was achieved prior to these changes (with Calver in midfield and Canfer playing as a striker). Strikes me that the manager will never do anything right in some peoples eyes. You can't have it all ways!

What i questioned is why Calver was put out wide on the left in the FA Cup tie, & not that he shouldnt be in the side, having him out wide was like playing with 10 men. Were you there??
Maybe you can tell us Scotty Parker why he was played out wide??
You would think that he would have learnt from last season not to interfere with something that is working.
Crawford is changing his team now because he is starting to panic again, trouble is he wont give people a chance to prove themselves by giving them a run of games in the side.
Blades starts one game & then he's straight on the bench again!!
Im surprised to hear tha Barwick started his second game in a row Saturday as im sure others are!!
Any way be interesting to see how things go over the next 2 games againt Walsham-Le-Willows & Gorleston??
Will he revert back to the side that picked up 7pts from a possible 9 at the start of the season?

Is the first sign of panic to put in a 7 day approach, as I've heard Brantham have received one for striker Ben Deacon?

Question is why do Hadleigh want another srtiker, you already have Duane Wright & Josh Mayhew, Mayhew has already scored a hat-trick this season.

As I following local football closely , in Hadleigh reports i read alot about a certain James Blades & Scott Chaplin ( both I think scored several goals each last season ),
As H.U.F.C Supporter states , why keep changing the team for change sake, surely best try to start with the same team week in week out so the players get used to each others style of play , yes I know injury / suspensions stop this.
But surely its best to stick with the same team for a few matches ( win, lose or draw ) so the players as stated get used to each other.

Suppose our comments could be taken " we all know better than the Manager " ( applies to any team ) but at times supporters do know better than the Manager , as I personally think once Supporters get used to the same players week in/ out, they are more inclined to get behind the players.

PANIC, Mr.Crawford, no he wouldnt!!!!
The Ben Deacon who was told that he was no good as a Striker & would be playing in a more wide position, by Mr. Crawford himself!
I wouldnt think he would return, as i believe he had the chance at the start of the season, but turned us down, but you never no.

One thing I do most certainly agree with you HUFC Supporter (and Sammy) - there is no need to knee jerk and the manager should play a settled side. Just have fave faith in the players; Hadleigh certainly has a talented squad and I am sure the players would respond positively if they weren't constantly under threat of losing their place in the side just because they don't win. Believe in the players and the results will take of themselves. I still believe Hadleigh will be in the mix come the end of the season.
