Re: Hadleigh United Seeking New 1st Team Manager
Heard from a good source that Alan Dilloway ( assistant manager ) is stepping in until the end of the season
As Greenmanwalking states I believe their is a regular Bus service from Hadleigh to Sudbury .
But don't think he will get that position ( maybe wrong ) Think the experienced Danny Laws will get it
Now wondering if the Hadleigh players will stay loyal to the Club as sometimes players leave , especially if the ex manager gets another position
Another question Did he walk or was he pushed ( considering their poor results against what most people seem to believe he had a large budget !! )

Re: Hadleigh United Seeking New 1st Team Manager
Well the HUFC Committee & Youth Committee have finally got what they wanted, Stuart Crawford out of the club!!
They forked out 40k last season in Player wages just to win the League, have no intention of moving up a League, despite what you hear coming out of the club, so why spend all that money?
He has been told this season to use the lads from the Reserve & U18's if he requires any cover, but to be honest none of these are up to this standard of football.
I think you will find that give it a year or two & HUFC will be back down in the First Division.
Who ever wants to take on the job best be prepared to play with a group of local boys who just are not good enough, because this is what the Youth Section are demanding of the Main Committee & this is part of the reason why they are now looking for a new Manager.
Don't think you will find Stuart on a bus to AFC.

Re: Hadleigh United Seeking New 1st Team Manager
Interesting read Shack Attack
I've followed Football in East Anglia for nearly 30 years, in that time I have seen various Clubs rise and fall in that time.
Questions for you Do you think a Town the size of Hadleigh would generate enough support for Rymans Football ?????
Bearing in mind Sudbury & Needham Market are not too far away ( yes good for local derbies ) but would Hadleigh draw any Supporters away from these Clubs ???
Next problem as you probably know it the amount of travelling in the Rymans league so could a Club like Hadleigh afford this extra cost of travel
While its of little interest to me what Hadleigh do , but at times I just like to pass logic comments. Would hate to see any Club go to a higher level of Football and not be able sustain it because of running costs to the Club and would supporters be prepared to pay higher admission
A lot for any Committee of any Club to consider , if a Club goes up it should be for the right reasons and not just a "five minute whim " , best to have a long term plan in place , but what happens if a Committee changes ( which it can do )

Are you sure that figure is right?, or did you mean £4k
Ryman One North & Ryman Premier clubs spend a lot lower than that.
Local conference clubs wouldn't spend that.

Ok, so 40k was a bit over the top, but if you want it spot on then £34,030.01.

Re: Hadleigh United Seeking New 1st Team Manager
Even more puzzling why they didn't apply for promotion. They could easily compete at Ryman North with that money if not Ryman Premier. The travelling for a side in Ipswich / Colchester area would be no more than the Eastern Counties. Soham are the furthest West, & Hadleigh already travel to Ely. North is Wroxham, Dereham and they travel to that area anyway for the EC, South to London isn't that far to the M25. Most are Essex clubs so would think it would be achievable. If Leiston who are more on a limb than most can do it.

Well while they have got the man at the top that they have at present making all the decisions they never will!!
He knows that if the club move up, then that may well lead to having more people involved in the club & that might well be a big investor who wants to make all the decisions & take over his role at the club!
At present he's the BIG I AM!!!!

No offence but the first team ain't so good either if Saturdays result is anything to go by.
Also guessing he knows how to drive so he wouldn't be a bus wa##er anyway!!

Re: Hadleigh United Seeking New 1st Team Manager
Some interesting comments on this I see.
Think as I have already said, its having a solid committee or an agreement in place on monies to cover sustaining life in the Rymans League . Such a move is not a five minute wonder , as there as we all know a lot of expense to get grounds up to Rymans standards , coupled with increase in players wages .
On players wages I note what MIW has stated about travel , these matches are fine , but as we know Rymans a lot of matches mid-week , so say to get to Dereham for a mid-week for a player say living in Ipswich driving up by himself , 7.45 p.m k.o , arrive at ground at least 1 hour before k.o = 6.45 p.m got to allow hour + travel , looking to leave Ipswich around 5.00 p.m latest ( what happens if he has to work until 5.30 p.m ) is he going to be able to leave early and loose 30 mins pay ?? Lot to consider , some employers may not allow you to leave early .
Back to Committee's assume Hadleigh like most Clubs as a rule of thumb , hold an A.G.M , whats happens say if a Committee agree the move up , Club is excepted, at next A.G.M some of the Committee stand down or get voted out , then those Committee members then say we don't want Rymans league football because the Club cannot sustain the cost or loose a main sponsor ( brown stuff then appears ) . I know these may be negative thoughts , but what would you rather see , a Club sustaining a top three position in the Eastern Counties Premier League ( debt free ) with good support , reasonable wage bill & travelling costs and reasonable admissions costs
Or In the Rymans League not doing to well because you can't attract players due to low wages , you still have high travelling costs , higher admissions prices , and the possibility of low gates and IN DEBT . Know what I would prefer
Another question Clubs like Leiston , Needham Market , AFC Sudbury to name a few have large committees and directors who are prepared at present to put money in , but what could happen to some of these Clubs if " backers " pull out . as the saying is its " dead money " you put in .
Must remember most Clubs are run by hard working volunteers , who probably do it for " the love of the game " , & its the players who are normally the only ones who gain from a Club for being paid to play

excellent post Sammy but every season it appears teams are looking to leave for the ryman league,4 more I believe this season.is it a case of we now have to get to this level of football or we will get left behind in a league that is clearly not as strong as teams continue to leave?sammy wrote:Some interesting comments on this I see.

Thanks " Divided United " & "Theted " for reading my comments
Yet more of my ramblings
Today in my work I drove past Wivenhoe Town F.C and this reminded me of how a Club rose through the pyramid system we have in football when in I believe the late 80's they were promoted to the Ryman ( stand to be corrected on date). They like some Clubs of today had the backing then of Wivenhoe Port and its M.D was also Chairman of Wivenhoe , what happened a lovely " bed of roses " for a couple of season , large money even then on player wages , ground improved plenty of covered stand , large " grandstand " partly built . Then what happens business at Wivenhoe goes down to the extent the Port closes , thus the money Wivenhoe ceases , and back down the pyramid they come to play in the Easerten Counties League , where they are now ( no offence to Wivenhoe but they are struggling and have for the past three season avoided relegation to Division One ) > as for the ground the partly built " grandstand " is still today still partly built .
Do we want to see other Clubs go this way because the money dries up with the " backers " pulling out .
Another Club that was a big well supported Club in the Eastern Counties League was Harwich & Parkeston , but again they have been without monies and backers for some years now and are struggling in the Essex & Suffolk Border League
Will more Clubs go this way . who knows

Re: Hadleigh United Seeking New 1st Team Manager
As far as I am aware Hadleigh have never had any ambitions to move up the pyramid system, they are happy to play in the eastern counties league, I also have a feeling they spent a lot more than that on players wages last season, not sure who gave you them figures but it looks like they came from a set of accounts as they were precise, and as everyone knows you can adjust accounts which ever way you want, as Sammy has also said, a lot of clubs have gone the wrong way when they have strived to move up the pyramid system and the reason is, they never had a long term plan, only single investor like a chairman with lots of cash to start with, and then gets sick of shelling out in the end, you need a good structure from youths all the way through to seniors, and plenty of volunteers to help run the clubs at a higher standard, many clubs fail because they also only have a handful of committee members, there have been plenty of clubs around this league spending a lot more than 34k and have won nothing.

Re: Hadleigh United Seeking New 1st Team Manager
If he won a step 5 title with a budget like that, he deserves praise. I know of one ECL club with a much bigger budget than that last season. I appreciate budgets are relevant to the clubs geography, I doubt Norwich Utd would need to spend too much (for all I know there might be), based of the fact that's there's not much competition in that neck of the woods. But I'd be surprised if any other step 5 title was won by a smaller budget than that.Shack Attack wrote:Ok, so 40k was a bit over the top, but if you want it spot on then £34,030.01.
But I stand to be corrected, some of my comment was based on fact, and the rest on rumour and listening to people in the know.

I heard that you can expect an announcement and appointment of the new Hadleigh manager by the end of the week. Anyone have any thoughts on who this may be.

I dare say there are others as well that haven't made it known that they have applied!

Easy choice then HUFC Supporter as he was already at the Club , or did your Committee not wish to take a chance on some else. Nothing on your website as yet I note , though by now with Stuart Crawford gone some one would have updated this and removed his name as contact for the Club if anyone wants to join , likewise with some one to assist the Reserves ( sorry being pickity )HUFC Supporter wrote:Ian Brown confirmed.

Sammy,
Yes I had noted this the other day & wondered how long it would still have Mr Crawford's name as a contact on the Main Page.
Lets see how long it takes, it was still on there when I looked at 6pm!!!
That's 16 days so far.

As most Eastern Counties sides are made up of unpaid volunteers who do websites etc for nothing, you could always offer to take this job on Hufc supporter, I am sure the club would love the help.
