FA Cup and Vase to revert to regions
It appears that after complaints from several leagues that the early rounds of this seasons competitions only pitted teams against others from the same league it has been decided to go back to the old traditional regions for next season.
This from the Northern League website.......

My club played 5 other EC teams in the cup and vase this year, nothing against them but I would welcome the return as nice to go to venues not visited before/ see different teams, etc.
What do others think?

Re: FA Cup and Vase to revert to regions
Sorry, link not working, here is the text:
The League has won its fight over the early rounds of FA competitions. From next season both FA Cup and FA Vase draws will revert to the status quo, embracing a much larger area of the north.
NL clubs had protested that, under the groupings adopted this season, the first three rounds of both national competitions became little more than two more league cups.
Thirty five out of 36 clubs who responded to a League survey urged the FA to rethink, claiming that the traditional magic of the Cup had been lost at a stroke. Now both the FA Cup and FA Vase committees have accepted the case.
"It's a significant result for the League and its clubs, most of whom were aghast at what had happened without warning or consultation," said League chairman Mike Amos.
The chairman was also anxious to acknowledge the FA role. "Through Steve Clark, the competitions manager, they immediately took on board what we were trying to say. The relevant committees have been very fair - I'm delighted that we have been successful in arguing our clubs' case and that we can again resume the close relationships with our friends elsewhere in the north."

I for one think its a good idea, as rightly stated over the last couple of season Eastern Counties teams have had to play each other in both the F.A Cup & Vase, must surely be better for these competitions even in the early stages as the same must be happening throughout the country.
Makes a welcome change for Clubs to visit new teams & grounds
