ESL; Unfair to our Div One sides?

Post  homer on Tue Jun 25, 2013 10:17 pm

I note from the announced constitution for the Essex Senior League next season, that FC Romania have gone direct from Step 7 (Middlesex League) to Step 5 (ESL) in one go, as did Bethnal Green United a few years ago. FC Romania play at Cheshunt so I would have thought Step 6 in Spartan South Midlands Div One  would have been more logical.

I just think it unfair that our Div One clubs at Step 6 have to slug it out year after year, but these two sides have gone from being a Step below our Div One sides to a Step above them without 'paying their dues'.

Anyone agree?

I'd agree apart from the fact they are now in the ESL.
We we're stuck there for 10 years & were great full of the drop down to step 6 just
to move away from it.
If you like going to run down grounds in run down parts of London with grounds which have no facility's & no fans & prefer to watch a fight on the pitch rather than football then its your thing!
All i can say is been there , done that and just glad we are still in the ECL Very Happy!

So between the 5 games that went ahead , the combined attendence was 124!

Just to back up what Blood has said. I spoke to somebody who was at the Stanway vs Clapton replay on Wednesday who had attended the first game. They were not offered a cup of tea before the game and there was nothing in the way of hospitality at half time.......not even so much as a biscuit!!

Sadly, from my own experience, this is not a one off with teams from the ESL.

Whilst admitting that there are some Clubs in our league that are better than others, at least you know that you will be fed and watered on your travels.
