F.A. Cup attendances
Checking the FA Cup results affecting teams in the Ridgeons League, one outstanding attendance that caught my eye was that of the March Town v Wisbech Town of 1109. Whilst this was a local derby, the treasurer of March must be rubbing his hands, if this is right! If anyone viewing this post attended the game, maybe you could confirm what the atmosphere was like?

Hey Back Four, how are you doing?......I picked up on the same subject as you posted.Fantastic "gate" at March, and a great result for The Hares......it looks like a win -win on gate money over the two games. On the other hand Goddy travelled to Loughboro gate =36 and no cash to come from FA......thats both sides of FA CUP "magic"

Yes, I was there. The atmosphere was electric. There were about 350-400 from Wisbech, and it is amazing how many were rooting for the Hares. The stand was full to bursting. There were a sizeable number of POSH and CAMB UTD fans, but also many from the town of March. So many people going to the ground and long queues made the Police take an interest and they played a helpful role in ensuing public safety.
The attendance was double what was expected, and it was a some spectacle, the crowd noisy but good-humoured, and the whole thing will be repeated tomorrow with a much lower attendance I would think. But both clubs will have had a sizeable sum of moey at the end, without the prize money.

Strange attendance at Needham Market, it was announced over the tannoy at being 237 yet Mitoo & everywhere else has it as 220 ! The highlight for us defeated supporters was the first 10/15 minutes of the first half Mr Laws was shouting (very load) & everyother word began with F and ended in ING, a few supporters of both teams told him what for & to his credit stopped, but his assistant just turned around and mouthed "F*** off to those who could see & lip read. He was reminded that as a poorly paid number two he was either a mime artist or he hasn't got a speaking part.
One thing that does disapoint me with officials is when the linesman or assistant referee calls one of the players by his first name and calls him "mate". Now when that defender is Gavin Johnson and he is defending it can be seen as........... I'll let you decide.

What another tremendous attendance at the Wisbech v March FA Cup replay. Nearly 2000 people attended the two games which is a brilliant advert for local football in that area. Both clubs have benefitted financially from this tie with Wisbech gaining the extra bonus for winning. March have to be congratulated for pushing their Premier League neighbours all the way in what must have been two pulsating games.

Yes, another large crowd of 830. The tie certainly caught the imagination of local people, and the good-humoured banter and sporting behaviour was great to see. Wisbech went 2-0 up and were the much better team in the first half, but March were the better team for long periods in the second, and just pipped at the post. What an exciting 2-part tussle in front of almost 2000 spectators. Both teams and sets of supporters deserve the praise for their efforts, and local football can only benefit from this.
